The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has announced a 1.75% increase to minimum wages following its 2020 Annual Wage Review. The new national minimum wage will be $753.80 per week or $19.84 per hour (including for anyone not covered by an award or an agreement).
This will apply to all award wages. However, the increase to awards will be spread out in 3 different groups. See more details below.
The increase doesn’t affect employees who already get paid more than their new minimum wage.
The wage increase takes effect in a staged implementation. The 1.75% increase will apply to minimum rates in Modern Awards in the following 3 stages from the first full pay period after the group date.
